Hey! I’m Taylor, Diem’s resident Editor. We’re trying *something new* this week—it’s called “The Briefing.” You can think of The Briefing like the 6 p.m. nightly news except for it’s way less serious, not at 6 p.m., and not really about the news. Mostly, The Briefing is our attempt at summarizing alllll the good stuff we learned in Diem this week because you might have missed it. We know your schedule is very busy and we love that for you.
Here it goes!
Quote of the Week
“We need our own receipts” - Abadesi Osunsade on why we (as women) should be documenting our achievements. Aba even has a “Yay folder” where she catalogues compliments, career milestones, salary increase, and personal accomplishments. Yes, we all created “Yay folders” immediately following this talk.
Take Notes on...
“Don’t let the fast pace of dating apps determine YOUR pace. Stay in control of your schedules, feelings, and values. Take your time in responding and do what feels right for YOU.” – April Beyer, dating and relationships expert. April is smart. Listen to April.
Diemer Chloe Howerth recommended that we check out the Second Life podcast episode with Maude CEO and founder, Eva Goicochea. She says “there’s a lot of good stuff to glean from her career path and she offers great career tips.” Ok, queued!
Diemer Amber Atherton shared some superrr interesting lessons from Beanie Babies for the creator economy and NFT community, and we’re very much here for that comparison. “What made a beanie come to life was the stories behind it + the poem on the tag. What is the character? How is it marketed? Is it rare? What doe the ownership say about the collector?”

🏃♀️ How to manage the life marathon
Krista Parry talked about how to manage the marathon of life and the roadblocks it throws our way. “The most important thing we can do is own our power, we are really powerful beings, especially as women, especially as non-binary folks – we are juggling so many things. Don’t let those roadblocks get in your way...I worked around lots of men for many years, men don’t question if they can do it, they just do it. The biggest thing I can encourage women to do is just own their power, don’t question if you can do it... you just have to believe you can do it because you do have power within you. We sometimes forget how resilient we are.” Listen to this Session for the ultimate pep talk.
🍼 How to navigate your identity as a mother
Paula Goldstein talked about what being maternal actually means (to her, at least). “The idea of being maternal is such a subjective term. Why is the concept of being maternal tied so closely to loving babies and doing all the cutesy stuff? Why is it not an act of living and caring and being? I struggled a lot with it. A lot of women don’t comprehend the transition into motherhood. It’s a giant identity shift. There was a big shift on how I centered my power.” Phew, this one was a lot. Listen to this Session for an interesting exploration of the nuances of motherhood and how it changes your identity.
🔥 How to own your sexual pleasure
Dr. Laurie Mintz shared her knowledge on how to recognize your entitlement to sexual pleasure. “Talk to yourself. I know it sounds crazy but we know the way we think and talk to ourselves does affect us. Develop a mantra. For example, ‘I deserve pleasure’ or ‘my pleasure is paramount.’ Listen to this Session for interesting research and tangible tips to enhance your experience of sexual pleasure.
